Use and Care of CooperWorksBC blockers

All wood products require periodic maintenance. The following procedures should keep your blockers in good condition.

  • Your CooperWorksBC Sock or Mitten Blockers have been finished with five coats of polyurethane varnish and two coats of paste furniture wax. This will protect the wood against moisture from items being blocked. As with any wood product do not allow to sit in water.

Use and care of your Sock or Mitten Blockers.

    • Remove as much water as possible before blocking. We recommend laying your wet socks or mittens on a hand towel and roll the towel and socks tightly. Do NOT wring as this will stretch and distort your socks or mittens.
    • Steam Blocking is NOT recommended and will likely damage your blockers.
    • You can use the included twine loops to hang your blockers on a hook, doorknob, or the back of a chair.
    • We recommend checking for rough edges before and after each use. Every 6 months or as needed perform maintenance listed below.

    • Check all edges for rough spots or possible snags.
    • Smooth rough spots with fine sandpaper.
    • Apply and buff out 1 coat of paste wax. A 2nd coat will improve protection.
    • Recheck edges and repeat if needed.
